well, I can't really defend what others say and the gold stocks comment was kind of a joke. But, I did mention a few other stocks besides the gold stocks.

I think one of the things that I find upsetting about the spin machine is that growth and good fundamentals are confused with "betting expectations". Especially when expectations are based on numbers that can be modified along the way or massaged through interesting accounting methods. So a company beats "expectations", do they have top line growth? Do the better bottom line numbers come from increased revenues or through slash and burn cost cutting methods (or stock buybacks which reduce the number of shares and bring the EPS up).

and I am not saying that the cost cutting activities are a bad thing, when we come out of the bear our businesses will be lean mean money making machines. That ain't a bad thing at all. When analysts and the media start focusing on the real fundamental story and how it is getting better, rather than expectations, I think we will have a good sign that we have turned the corner.
