I don't think Lott has anything to explain. His history is clear. It's not just his latest words, nor is it even the fact that he's consistently repeated them. He's belonged to organizations that are segregationist [quit when caught] and has spoke at institutions that are knowingly segregationist and praised them no less. There is not much to explain. The only thing I'm wondering is whether he'll try an apology with tears running down his cheeks. jttmab
