Well, they are trying to be and personally, I do not think they are succeeding, nor they have a chance to do so. The point being is that unless a different strategy is initiated, the eventual cost of such venture and its consequences will bring the US down.
I realize it is easy to point out what is not working without coming up with an alternative solution, (that is if there is one). The reason the US has been so successful in terms of becoming a productive society to this point has been the freedom (relative more and more), we all enjoy here, which is the result of a particular ideology.
Unless the rest of the world is willing to consider something "similar", forcing the will of the US upon the rest is not going to work.
I do realize that it is a difficult problem when a collection of lunatics are attempting to destroy the US. So defend the US yes, at all costs. BUT becoming the world police... no, that is not a bright idea.
I am all in favor to move the UN out of the US, let all those cockroaches feed on someone else's belly, in addition, I do not understand how could a criminal like Arafat has been given the status of a diplomat. If the US would work with the Mossad, Arafat would have been a sorry splat in history long ago when he first appeared on the scene... in stead, he has been allowed to "glorify" (in the eyes of terrorists), such activities and even made them justifiable in their eyes.
In other words, yes, be a gentle giant, but don't let the mosquitos bite ya, take no chit from cockroaches, they may carry a more damaging disease than what you think.
Lastly, allowing and even assisting all the monarchs in the middle east to continue existing goes against the very ideology of the US, does that make sense ? not in my eyes, indeed, in some of the terrorists eyes, that makes the US an enemy, hence justifying their actions.
Bottom line, look I am all in favor of Capitalism, in fact you can call me a fat capitalist pig, I will take that as a compliment. BUT it is time to stop fooling ourselves thinking that the rest of the world are morons. If you assist KINGDOMS in the middle east, don't expect to be treated well by those who are fighting the monarchs.
Just think, during the war of independence, what would the US patriots have done against anybody that would help the British Crown in fighting their efforts for independence ?
