This "Caesar's Wife" approach to public life is self-defeating, IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of his consulting companies money comes from Saudi sources. Might well be the case with Mitchell, though it's more likely with Kissinger.

>>That he is evil, or dishonest, because he does not want to disclose his clients?<<

If one has a confidential relationship with one's clients, one has an ethical obligation to preserve that confidence.

Lawyers aren't supposed to divulge their clients, nor are physicians or any other health professional, nor are social workers.

As far as that goes, I would really resent anybody with whom I had a business relationship, from my mechanic to my plumber, from divulging that publicly without my OK, but I wouldn't consider it a breach of confidentiality, just an invasion of privacy.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Kissinger promised his clients that he would keep the relationship confidential, and I think he did the right thing. Given the time delay, he may have contacted them to ask if he could make the relationship public, at least one said no, and that's the end of that.

A gentleman keeps his word.
