Thanks for your correction relative to McConnell taking the whip post from Nickles. My theory of a reaffirmation election of Lott would only work if Nickles and Lott were still in tune with each other.

Hmm, I'm not certain who are the serious players in that caucus. I assumed Nickles was no longer one because something happened to him in the majority leader fight this fall. I wonder who, if they don't speak in support of him, will tell us he's finished.
