Not everyone who is pro life is religious. Not everyone who belongs to the religions that are most actively pro-life is pro-life. The religions have an opinion on the issue but there is nothing in the constitution that says no law shall be passed supporting any idea that is pushed for by a religious group.

You only get theocracy if the religious leaders can make the decision themselves or perhaps if the idea is directly about religion (you must worship god Y, using ritual Z). Otherwise you just have a case where religious people have the same freedom to push their ideas that everyone else has.

Religious people where on the forefront of the abolition movement. Should we allow slavery again so that a religiously backed idea doesn't get to be considered law?
