This, IMO, is a model for success when we have an alliance with a moderate Islamic country:

Says Al-Qaeda
Established
Cells in
Country
By Paul Tighe

Amman, Jordan, Dec.
16 (Bloomberg) --
Jordan's government
said the al-Qaeda
terrorist network set
up cells in the country,
the Associated Press
reported citing Information Minister Affash Adwan.

``There could be some small cells here and there,'' AP cited Adwan as saying
yesterday. ``We managed to arrest most of their members, if not all.''

Jordanian security forces arrested two men linked to al- Qaeda, who admitted
killing U.S. diplomat Laurence Foley Oct. 28, government officials said at the
weekend. The two revealed their al-Qaeda cell intended to smuggle surface-to-air
missiles into Jordan, AP cited Adwan as saying on Saturday.

Jordan began a crackdown on suspected terrorists after Foley's killing. The
alleged presence of al-Qaeda members in the country was revealed in 1999 when
Jordanian security forces foiled a plot to blow up hotels in the country. Military
prosecutors said 28 people convicted in the case were al-Qaeda members. The
court ruled at the time there was insufficient evidence al-Qaeda was active in
Jordan, AP said.
