I agree, a prudent decision on Gore's part. I'm also of the view that many of the problems we're today seeing might not have been so prominent, perhaps some of 'em might not even exist, were Gore allowed his version of prudency from the White House.

But I'm glad he's not running as I think the Democrats need put forward a stronger force for '04. From what I saw of Senator Kerry today, he's gonna force president-select Bush to do lots of homework in the next election; as I think Kerry is very capable of eloquently moving the agenda, so to speak.

From what I understand, one of the reasons so much pressure is now befalling upon Senator Lott, even among Republicans, is that the demographics of the country are changing and the Republican fondness for playing subtle appeals to Southern whites ain't gonna work much longer, if at all.

I forget the source of media analysis I heard today, but there's new polling data--who said Bush doesn't govern by polls!?!--that show the GOP is gonna have to increase its share of the miniority votes if it expects to win in '04. Of course, that simply ain't gonna happen what with Lott's behavior being what it's been.

Finally, I applaud Gore's decision. Frankly, I don't think I would have voted for him.
