Indeed, Gore did make the right decision. By doing so, I think he set his table for the future. His decision gives him lots of room to come in as more an 'outsider' than an 'insider,' one reason I think governors fare better than senators in national elections. If he sets back and draws in the right energy while embarking on a course of solid and well-directed criticism, an aged Gore could be a powerful force down the road.
