Demonstrating re-use: today's thought,

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Evidently Bush, Poindexter and Ashcroft would call this man a traitor and a betrayer of the Reich - oops, sorry, Homeland.

Author? Benjamin Franklin.

ts-

yes. that's the one.

glad that you and joser are here to give the
americans a clear perspective. it is quite
true that repetition over a long period of
time can screw up the thought process. especially
when you're surrounded by many others with the same
indoctrination and confusion.

this revenge, and homeland security, and war on terrorists
crap only makes sense if you abandon the fundamental
beliefs and values of civilized peoples... fer instance...

1) a universally applied system of law and justice that
allows for due process and fair trials by a jury of peers.
(declaring a state of "war" is nothing more than
a declaration of the suspension of law and due process.)

2) the faith and courage to live and act on the
"golden rule" as a law of nature. (IMO, it is
the only way to live a "liberated" life --
life without liberty is not worth living).

most of the rhetoric, policy and action coming from
the current US administration is directly contrary
to these two principles. the majority of american
citizens are supporting it. a prescription for failure.
it's painful to watch. it's like seeing your children
cheat on their homework or do something you know is
wrong. sometimes you have to let them fail for their
own good - if they won't heed your warnings.

the majority of american people are supporting this
administration's policies of their own free will. we
are a representative democracy and change is as easy
saying "NO" and casting a ballot. it's certainly not
comfortable to be in the minority on policy that has
such potential for disaster.

the only consolations to me are that,

1) on the whole... around the globe... it appears that
i may be aligned with the majority.

2) if that's not the case and the majority of mankind
is not aligned with above stated principles i'm
convinced that natural law is perfect in design and
that any path toward disaster will eventually be
corrected by the lessons learned from the pain of the
results of that disaster.

ever thang gonna bee all right...

eventually :-)
