Dia Bras Gets Involved in the Wawa Diamond Play (Ontario)
10/31/02

Dia Bras Exploration Inc. (Dia Bras) is please to announce the signature of an option agreement by which it has the right to acquire 50% interest in the Magpie and Macaskill properties located in the Wawa Diamond Belt of Central Ontario. The two properties, held by Oasis Diamond Exploration Inc. (Oasis) are contiguous and cover the same favorable geological sequences as adjacent properties where several diamond occurrences have been discovered over the past year.
Following the approval of the regulatory authorities, Dia Bras will issue 350,000 common shares of its treasury and pay $30,000 cash to Oasis. The four year agreement will allow Dia Bras to progressively acquire its interest in the 2 properties by issuing each year an additional 250,000 shares of its capital and by completing for $5.0 millions in exploration expenditure over the option period. The owner of the mineral rights, Wagner Forest Management is entitled to a 3% net profit interest royalty from any eventual diamond producing mines on the properties.

The Magpie property comprises 81 claims forming an elongated rectangle of 65.62 km2 in the Musquash, Leclaire and Abotossaway Townships. Following the completion of a reconnaissance geological sampling program, Oasis announced on October 3, 2002 the recovery of 8 micro diamonds from a 32.02 kg sample of mafic breccia outcropping in the centre of the property. It is also adjacent to Pele Mountain Resources Inc. Festival property and the Band-Ore Resources Inc. and Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. joint venture GQ property. Over the last year, these 2 groups have reported very favorable results from numerous diamondiferous occurrences similar to the one present on the Magpie property.

The Macaskill property is located 10 km to the west of the Magpie property. It is made-up of 85 claims covering an area of 80.63 km2 which has the shape of a crescent at the west end of the diamond belt in the Macaskill, Menzie, Knicely ad Lalibert Townships. It is immediately adjacent to the Enigma property of the Oasis-Iciena Ventures Ltd.- Arctic Star Corp. joint venture and the KWG Resources Inc-Spider Resources property to the north. These two groups have also reported major diamond occurrences on their respective property. On October 16, 2002, Spider Resources announced a suite of diamond grades ranging between 0.103 and 2.617 ct/t recovered from a reconnaissance outcrop sampling program on their property.

Gold in Ontario/Quebec/Manitoba is usually at the temiskaming sed/volcanic contact. It could be related to iron seds (banded IF). Rarely is it smack dab in the middle of conglomerate, arenite (quartzite) or wacke. In KL and Timmins the gold is in syenite contacting conglomerate, for KL and in Timmins, seds contacting conglomerate and greenstone. You do get ore in the conglomerate, but it is nearby volcs. Ore in most seds usually are volcanic seds, as in tuffs. Nearby/contact porphyries are common.

These sediment formations however are pure cold sediments unrelated to volcanism and having little chemical component save the basal limestone. We are in a quandary therefore to identify the heat engine that drove these ore fluids. The age of sediments, proterozoic, does not correspond to any of the Archean ore bodies elsewhere in Ontario. However they may bear a relation to the possible IF/Kuroko gold orebodies of the Geraldton camp. This is because Geraldton had emplacement due to deformation which displaced the Hearst diabase swarm, which is also proterozoic. The Snake river seds are probably Ghanian age or SA age reef conlgomerates. They have related late age unconsolidated placers in the Vermillion drainage where the qtz pebble detritus formed. Could these vein deposits be related to remobilization of fossil placers? Or are they related to some apophystic subcropping diapir or the Sudbury event, with distal vents? There is copious felsic magamatism south of Sudbury and many fenitized granites.
