Good point about carrying the loss back to previous years... I think that just closed the issue for me :)

Hi kayaker

I'll reply to your post on the oilsands thread here.

I have got an accountant for the first time for personal taxes this year. He did my other side last year.
He is aware that I have made some dough from stock transactions and the advice I got was that it would be capital gains.
In fact thinking about it I specifically asked and he wasn't concerned about the issue.
I'll ask him for a more detailed answer if I think of it next time we meet and pass it on to you.
