Thanks, David, I tried that yesterday. I've done that before, and the only date that could be restored was the day before it crashed, but 4-days after the software was installed. It said choose any of the highlighted dates, and only one was able to be highlighted. I couldn't believe it. I've never had that happen. Usually you can choose any date. I didn't want to go back more than a month, as lots of bookmarks and stuff would get wiped out. That's why I'm going to restore from the XP CD. My wife did this to my machine about 6-months ago, and the restore thing you describe did work. It just would not do this time around.
