Mike-- You were at City after I was. I lived through the McCarthy days and the students were intimidated.

I regard segregation as being in the same league of thinking as the holocaust. Obviously, the consequences are different, but the notion that some human beings are inferior to others and should be segregated is obviously repugnant. Lott's whole history is one of supporting segregation until it was obvious that it would cost him votes. To me, that means he doesn't know right from wrong. Look at the flack that Carter took in Georgia for knowing what is right. His statement reflects his sentiment. Let alone in a leadership position, I don't want his ilk in congress.
