Art, enjoyed your piece on the Ottoman's the other day.

<I'm not big on investing in gold>

Well hey Art don't worry. Neither are many of us here I suppose, ain't been in vogue for many a year. My first ever gold stock purchases were in ' 01 to be precise.

Slider, iso and co. kept harping on them so I smelled money. Figured I better come over and join the crowd. Well wasn't really a crowd then. More like just a couple of sheep who weren't really lost but were avoiding getting sheared elsewhere, and the herd just thought they were lost.

<but when growth areas like telecommunications stagnate, one must diversify.>

Diversify - when I smell smoke I pour more gas on the fire. Maybe someday I'll become more conservative, but for now as long it works I'm not gonna fix it. Guess I probably ain't what one would call heavily diversified here. Have a little NG, very little other that and it is going out the door, a couple of long term cores and lots of PM's. There is not all that much to safely diversify into.

Per my barometer telecos won't really make a comeback until further down the road. Valuations don't cut it, and this next gen market dump which I think is just down the road will change that. It is going to make it real painful for the tech and most other crowds. But after that the bottom should make for some good buys. I'm glad I messed in tech a good deal this last summer/fall. Got my feet wet in that area again and learned a little. Going to keep somewhat informed from herein, for the future.

Semis aren't going to disappear, there is just an awful lot of excess capacity to work off. And it is going to take more time. Deflation at work.

Fwiw I will hold no tech (or telecos) through what I think is soon to start. Soon being very soon like before end of year, or shortly thereafter. I think some are predicting a pretty decent rebound in the gen markets here, but I'm not with that bunch. I don't think it goes that far, and I think gold is smelling that as well.

You might read this. It is a very good piece of work from the TA side, and updated regularly. Ain't no escaping what is coming up. Just ain't. I think the target optimistic as well.

Art I would suggest that you start with GG. I believe we are entering a very powerful bull run now. In this kind of bull run the strong just get incredibly stronger.

FCX for whatever reason to me has always seemed destined to be a loser.

For starters in the Canadians I would suggest MFL.TO and CKG.V
As you get more comfortable with these stocks you can branch out and diversify.

All just IMVHO

BTW I have always enjoyed your posts. Diversity of opinion and a cordial give and take have made this forum unique.
