Unfortunately for him he turned bearish just before the gold bull started. Markets have no mercy.

that reminds me of a well-known fund manager who was bullish on QCOM for several years, but sold off a multi-hundred-million dollar position toward the end of 1998. right before QCOM went up 26-fold. left literally billions on the table.
