It is like saying "Hitler had more love for Jews than liberals." Regarding the statement in particular, the poster likely assumed that we all know slaveholders had no respect for blacks except as property. He didn't fill that in because it is commonly known. His point was to focus upon the shocking "truth" that is contrary to popular opinion, that the teensy-weensy respect slaveowners had for blacks was quite considerable compared to the respect white liberals have for blacks. I think the point was hyperbolic, and that even Cyberken's response to our incredulity was hyperbolic. It is possible to somewhat make a case that liberals take blacks for granted, much as slaveowners did, and that for liberals, blacks today are more disposable than blacks were to slaveowners. I wouldn't make the case, mind you, but I can see how one might try to do it.
