Johnson is a bit older than Landeta and actually was a college team mate of Reid's at BYU.

All I'm looking for is consistency and I'm more comfortable with a 40 something Johnson than an erratic 20 something Baker.

The fans booed him after his first punt/shank. I was thinking "Welcome to the Vet you poor bastard"

I wasn't surprised that Reid cut Baker. He can ill afford to have a liability in the kicking game.

When Landeta was put on IR, I was thinking back to the 1978 season when the Birds finally got into the playoffs after 17 years of frustration and piss poor football. Nick Mick-Mayer the Eagles kicker was hurt late in the season and Vermiel opted to have his punter (Mike Michel) handle kicking duties. (Note: I believe he had no choice because I seem to remember that teams were limited to how many roster moves they could make in the season)

It finally blew up when the Birds went to Atlanta for the Wild Card Game. The Eagles are in position to win the game with seconds left and Michel hooks a 34 yard attempt wide right.

Atlanta 14 Eagles 13

P.S. I'll comment on 2003 after the season. I believe there are some current starters that won't be with the team next year.
