I know and like Tenet.

That speaks well of him. The Memoirs and Autobiographies I have been reading on the CIA say that the problem has been aggravated there by hiring too many Lawyers to vet things. His conduct of the Afghanistan campaign but him over the top with Bush, of course.

I made a remark about him on this thread that I am sure you missed in the "Noise" here. In Woodward's Book, "Bush at War" he quotes Tenet as saying to himself, when he first heard of the 911 attack, that he wondered if the "guy taking pilot lessons" was part of it. Woodward goes on to confirm that Tenet knew about the Terrorist the FBI was tracking. I shook my head at this, because the way the story broke, this event never got above mid-management at the FBI. Maybe he heard about it while hanging out at Elaine's? :^)

Anyway, it does not compute with what I have read.

Tek,

If Tenet is as good as you say he is, what take do you have on Shelby's visceral reactions. Most of the stuff I've read separates the CIA from the FBI for evaluation; Shelby does not. Is there something personal? I noticed in something I read in the past several days that Tenet was not only a Senate staffer but was on David Boren's staff when he was the senator from Oklahoma. Something from that period? Or is it not personal?
