You should realize that the legitimate civil rights movement ENDED decades ago, when the last Jim Crow law disappeared. The history since then has been useless, meaningless legislation used to fool blacks into thinking, a) There is STILL a civil rights movement, and b) Something is being done (usually under cover of incumbent protection or pure socialism). The only historical impact of this useless legislation has been the left's ability to use it to destroy the integrity of our democracy with-for instance-phony fraud-generating "voting rights" features. Bush would like to pass the first meaningful civil rights legislation in 3 decades, providing for more effective enforcement against street crime, as well as school choice and enterprise-enhancing tax laws. In other words, all the stuff the liberal racists have been lying to the blacks about. Bush believes there's a vain of intelligent black political support to be derived from these innovative ideas. All you liberals who have been underestimating Rove and Bush are advised to be VERY AFRAID of such innovations, as they could finally begin to free the modern black slaves from the white liberal plantation, and destroy the left's last power base. The WH understands that Lott is no loss at all-unless he sulks off to Mississippi and puts a Democrat in the Senate. They are leaving their options open to use the Lott affair as an opportunity to show the blacks that their real interests-as are all of ours-lie in shucking off the Marxist/Leninist anti-American left, and adopting liberty and economic strength as their new ideals...
