New Jersey Governor Wants to Make State a Model of Clean Energy Consumption

By Akweli Parker, The Philadelphia Inquirer -- Dec. 18
Can New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey add more "green" to the Garden State?

He appears set on trying.

The governor says he intends to make New Jersey a model of efficient, clean energy consumption.

"I think this is one of the critical subjects facing our state and facing the nation," he said last week at a state energy summit he convened in Trenton.

The reasons, he said, are economic as well as environmental. Companies based on energy-efficient technologies and renewable technologies such as wind and solar power can add to the economy, help save on power costs and cut down on pollution.

At the summit, energy industry officials, regulators and local government leaders brainstormed ways to bring clean-running energy sources to New Jersey.
