It was a nice gang-bang by the demi-crats and the media. But like a lot of politicians he was telling his audience what it wanted to hear. Another windbag.

Too much POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

It's not the PC crowd that is devouring Lott, it's the vast right wing conspiracy eating one of their own. Liberals are just watching the spectacle.

I think he is nuts to play along with all the naysayers. I think he has made it even worse for himself.

Me too. He shouldn't have played along with the naysayers or anyone else. The very minute he perceived his honor was in question, he should have moved quickly to distance himself from the ill perception. He didn't do that. He didn't do that at all. And that left a huge question as to whether he had any honor.

No dang body is to blame for Lott's apparent downfall but Trent Lott. And there are quite valid reasons why Lott should be in trouble. Blacks remember those days in 1948. There are even extant recordings of the speeches. They remember the crap put out by the segregationists, the brutal public insults about their intelligence and morals, and the physical brutality that led right up through the dang sixties and beyond. How people can imply this is no big deal strikes me as most ridiculous.

Lott should be in trouble. And this is still America, a land wherein folks have a right to oust from leadership folks they no longer wish to follow.
