Gold Eagles and Maple Leaves cost $10-12 from the mints.
They don't sell them to the distributors at spot.
There are at times bargains on secondary market coins.. When there are a lot of sellers and less buyers. i.e. after the Y2K scare/promotion there were more sellers and the premiums dropped. It seems like I could buy AGE and ML for just a couple bucks over spot.. Krugerands were under spot.
Same thing could happen now if spot price stays up. There are a lot of people holding coins that are not gold bug types who will be glad to see oro up where it is and will sell.. If too many sell before the new buyers decide the price is real and start buying again.. there will be a glut and the premiums will go back down to where they can almost melt the coins to move them along.
