Go back and read what I wrote, Tom.

I said nothing about "the Irish struggles in America". I spoke of the Irish struggles with alcohol and made the point that, as an Irish American, I was not as offended by Clinton's statement as other Irish Americans.

Are you going to allow Trent Lott's repeated statements about supporting segregation to be eclipsed by this? I'm not.

I was not addressing the remark, which could certainly be interpreted as you suggest. I was addressing what I saw as some hypocrisy. I don't think Poet intended that effect but I can see your point.
