Art Hanger is never going to get elected in Baie Comeau.

Art Hanger is never going to run in Baie Comeau.

The worst move the CAP ever made was electing Stockwell Day as their leader

Agreed. And I have to mea culpa here, again, that I voted for him on the second ballot. Manning had been all steak, no sizzle, and the message we got, loud and clear, was that the eastern voter wanted sizzle. I made the cardinal and (in hindsight) naive error that a couple of excellent speeches by Day showed that he understood, and was prepared to propound, a well-considered and comprehensive body of policy. The 2000 campaign suggested otherwise.

While Mr. Day was in the Alberta Government he wrote a letter to his local newspaper libeling a lawyer, he attacked the lawyer for defending a pedophile

Some context, please. The lawyer in question was also serving as a school board trustee. Day raised the issue of whether the trustee was in conflict of interest, that possibly his role as a school board trustee was compatible with defending someone who was sexually exploiting school-age children.

Though he has since been turfed as leader, he is still serving in the party.

He continues to serve honourably and well. The fact that he is not cut of leadership material hardly says that he isn't fit to serve as a Member of Parliament. His comportment since his defeat in the leadership race speaks very well of his character. Joe Clark justly accrued kudos for his service under Mulroney, and I would submit that Day has demonstrated much the same character.

Sadly the Alliance's best hope was Preston Manning (My favourite so I'm biased) He just didn't have it for the sound bite world we live in... Day was, well, form over substance.... I rememeber arguing though I did think he was too 'fluffy' ... give him a chance.. boy was marcos right about him :o) ...

Mr. Chretien announced that he has no intention of stepping down prior to February 2004.
Great news for the PC's.... and just when they thought abandon hope all yee who enter... LOL...
