Is that a criticism of covert use of taxpayer money or only if favors DOD?

It should be a felony for any public official to covertly influence public media, for any reason. It shouldn't even need to be a law.
Democracy depends on free press. Gov't funds secretly used the way they are now is subversion of democracy, clearly, and is guaranteed to ALWAYS favor bigger government and incumbants, whether DOD or other agencies.

LL, you don't give a dam on the use of "Crusade", because you don't believe that encourages unnecessry worldwide conflict with millions of Muslims. If you thought, as I do, that there is high profit to be made by such conflict, politically and financially, you'd be suspect. I.e., you trust the current leadership, and god bless you. I don't, in the least.

Certainly the Saudis are our enemy, as you suggest. Have you ever wondered why they are kissed at BBQs in Crawford? You must think that's "necessary" to bow and scrape for someone else's oil, even if they train those who kill us. I don't. The Bush's and their partners are engaged in billions in commerce with the Saudis. Our leadership in Washington are profiteering traitors to all Americans.
