I met Preston several times, and Sandra, too. I had the privilege of meeting his dad, E.C., before he died. E.C. was 80+ at the time, but the way he worked the room was an impressive thing to see. If memory serves, he holds the record as the longest-serving head of government in the history of the British Commonwealth. My only close encounter with Chretien was about 20 years ago, when he spoke at the university I was attending. He's certainly a scrappy bugger.
