Junior has the opportunity to demonstrate through his actions whether his critisism of Lott was just rhetoric.

Hi Don,

I'd like to think that Lott is smart enough, and has done enough of his homework, to understand that his comments about Thurmond, who ran for President as a Segregationist, would be taken as tacit approval of segregation.

Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time he'd made similar comments about Thurmond.

But your point about seeing comments in their proper historical light is a good one, IMO.
