The absolute lunacy of it all is that the US still has no coherent strategy or real plan to decrease dependence on oil (big surprise under George W).... For a short-term measure, its been great to play the Russia card, but we need to make the Middle East irrevelant due to oil (terrorism/Israel-Palestine issues are enough to handle)....Giving Russia increasing leverage also not the smartest thing in the world to do....our standing in L.A. (including Mexico) has only gotten worse due to the vaccuum of ideas.. All salvageable, but we need to get our act together before the crises hits (instead same ol' reactionary stuff)
