Hi ~protege ....

If I were referring to a URL, that would have been it.

What I like about Google is the ability to run a search directly from a toolbar at the top of your browser and, thus, not have to access a URL at all. It saves having to wait for the Google page to download and gives further tools, like the ability to highlight search terms in the target documents.

And as look as I'm mentioning Browser tools, I've replaced the folder-based 'favorites' (which were always cumbersome to organize) with PowerMarks. This is a completely editable keyword-based system. No more trying to remember which folder you put that Favorite in.

Further, if you use more than one browser, you'll have mutually exclusive Favorite/Bookmark files. PowerMarks lets you amass all the Favorites from all your browsers and makes the combined file available to all.

Also, PowerMarks lets you associate notes with each Favorite. That's something that IE never thought of. You can hide your needed passwords away in those notes.

And, lastly, you can assign a rating (from 'NR' to '1 ... 10') to each favorite. I believe there's a way to hide favorites of rating less than 'x' so that you can really work with just your top favorites. (I haven't tried to do this yet.)

PowerMarks is available at www.kaylon.com (Kaylon Technologies). The cost is something like $30, but you can download a full-featured version for a free 30-day trial. By the end of my 30 days, there was no way I wanted to go back to IE Favorites.
