I did not hear about that.

I was just reading the nicest book by Fadiman on reading (which my secret santa gave me today- what a GREAT choice that secret santa made because I've been reading it all afternoon when I had the chance), and in it she talks about a dinner party where a bunch of people were talking about an interior decorator who shelved books by color and size, and who was then killed in a traffic accident. The table of book lovers felt the death was deserved, she jokes. Now I am SURE she didn't mean that. But at some later date she could certainly be accused of insensitivity to interior decorators. And so often interior decorators are depicted as gay. Does that mean Ms. Fadiman is homophobic? No, of course not. I doubt she even thinks interior decorators who sort books by color deserve an untimely end. People say things for all kinds of reasons, and they don't always think before they speak nor should they have to, imo. It will be a sterile boring world if people have to think carefully on everything that comes out of their mouth. I prefer the world to be interesting and spontaneous, myself.
