Boy i really disagree.

This is about the Republican party and the race issue. If Trent Lott weren't so well known as someone who plays to the white supremacists in his state, his comment would've gone by as a joke. (I actually thought his comments were kind of funny.)

You keep talking about off-color remarks made by liberals as if it's the same thing, but nobody thinks they're making covert gestures to southern racists. Nobody who cares about the race issue question where they stand like they do with Lott.

The good news is Republicans don't seem to think that sort of Lott gesture is in their best interest anymore. That would be good for the country.

Maybe the next time someone asks Bush about state houses flying the confederate flag, he'll say "it's a disgrace."
