I am not sure that Islam will always be a danger to the West, and Islam itself, in its more sophisticated versions, is part of the West. Alfarabi, Avicenna, and other scholars helped to keep Greek learning alive outside of the Byzantine Empire, and there was a time when the Muslim kingdoms of Iberia, present day Spain, were notable for their tolerance of Jews and Christians, and for their encouragement of learning......
