I've seen pelicans in Canada and on my local power plant lake. Awesome are the swans when you can hear their wings whistle 500 yards away.

There's a GBH rookerie 20 miles north of me that had 36 nests last year.

In "Travels With Charlie" John Steinbeck wrote that if Montana had a seacoast it would be his favorite place. I wonder what he would say to the pelicans?
