My only comment on the story is that the timing is difficult for Cree to refute. We are in the quiet period now, so they can't comment on earnings. Prior forecasts indicated strong growth quarter over quarter and capacity constraints. On a separate but related note, it seems handset sales, particularly of 3-G models using lots of blue LEDs, are selling very well, and are expected to continue to do so into at least the first half of 2003. Cree has already taken another public hit on UltraRf with the settlement with Spectarian, so no news there. Market share of all LEDs vs. highly desirable blue, white and ultraviolet are really the story. Indications given during the last conference call were that product acceptance was growing and bookings were more than solid.

So, when a story like this comes out and the Company doesn't (can't) rebut anything....how much weight should the whole thing be given?

Cree at $17. Cree at $20...or $25. Time will tell.
