I am not arguing that point. I said that the manner in which they are fighting is grotesque. Of course so were the Cristian Crusaides etc. The main point I was trying to get across was the religious and ethnic point of view on everything and the recurant, if you are not in my group, then you must be a second class citizen or worse yet, be killed. I know of NO group that has exercised tolerance in all their history, not one. Buddists have had a fair track record but all of them have also slipped into the oppressive mode at one point or another some more or less extreme than others. My main point is that it shouldn't be a one side is right or one side is wrong. Instead, let the time start over and everyone just be on equal footing and stop trying to one up everyone else based on anything other than each person's actions. If a group forms and acts out aggressively, then squash that group but leave the bystanders alone. It is like out here in LA a couple weeks ago when I was watching the news. There were one to two murders every night in some lousy neighborhoods. The residents were on the news wanting something to be done to stop the killing but then said they wouldn't talk to police because they were the enemy. OK, fine. But don't bitch when someone puts a cap in your butt. The Lebonese know who the suicide bombers are that are about to be sent out. Talk or don't gripe when the Israeli helicopters mow down your neighborhood after the next attack. The whole us vs them is getting old. Every group has one claim or another. Some previously suppressed groups want to be MORE equal than others. Bull pucky, start the clock right now and have everyone equal, as in equal, the same, no preferential treatment, no suppression. If someone screws up, no excuses about a hard past, etc. Stop the I was born here, or have this color skin so I only hang outr with these guys stuff. Damn, the cave men had clans and we are still playing the same game despite all we have accomplished and knowledge gained. Heck, the USSR was our sworn enemy when I came in and I spent 10 years making sure we could nuke them off the face of the planet with 5 minutes notice. Now we are able to get along. If we can do it, anyone out there can! Simple concept, but so hard for everyone to do. Everyone wants to belong to some special group and gripe or pick a fight with the group next door. It keeps the defense contractors working though I guess and helps GDP -ggg-.
