I'd apologize under the circumstances, too. It means little accept that one didn't mean to offend anyone. It was still a trifle compared to Lott, even were it poor judgment. In any case, I am less concerned with Clinton than with dumping on Poet unnecessarily. By the way, my point was that Irish- Americans have a fine sense of humor, and generally laugh at pub jokes, so I was surprised to see such disapproval. Finally, I always laughed at Eddie Murphy on SNL, doing things like the "Kill my landlord" bit, or the parody of James Brown getting into a jaccuzzi. I laughed out the send up of the black preacher in "Coming to America". I watch Cedric the Entertainer, and laugh at his cafeteria lady. There is plenty of ethnic humor that is still permissible, if handled correctly........

another poster chimed in to reinforce the acceptability of the slur...(something clinton himself did not do)

This poster commented, as Neo has, that she feels that comparing Clinton's comments to Lotts was apples to oranges.

This poster, who mentioned she was Irish and published research in the field of the etiology of alcoholism, mentioned the difficult history the Irish have had with alcohol.

This poster was accused of demeaning the Irish struggles in America.

This poster challenged two people to show evidence for their allegations. There wasn't any.

You chose to comment about how *troublesome* my comments were from the sidelines. More pot-stirring on your part.
