ok fine you want to make racism illegal for everyone? So what about the right to free association? The Nazis, who I think we can agree are racist, are frequently protected by the ACLU BECAUSE of their unpopular views. To have freedom you must protect the unpopular, and protection is akin to toleration, I think. Child molestation involves children and crime. Racism and racist actions frequently are about ideas and thoughts and speech, when such actions do not rise to the level of a hate crime. I expect people in this country to realize that by protecting objectionable speech, we preserve all speech. Of course I often expect too much of many people, but so be it.
