Douglas Cliggott: Next Year's Market May Reflect '02 - Investment Strategist

19 Dec 16:05

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Next year's markets could look a lot like 2002, said
Douglas Cliggott, investment strategist for Brummer & Partners.

"We think economic growth will be very sluggish next year," he said in a CNBC
interview Thursday.

Cliggott believes stock valuations need to come down before the risk-reward
ratio evens out. Additionally, bond yields probably won't go much higher, he
believes.

Investors could find some stock picks in the defense, consumer staples and
health-care sectors, but "buying an index fund isn't our idea of an attractive
move right now."
Brummer & Partners is a privately owned asset management group in Stockholm,
Sweden.
