I know that you are no fan of Clinton's and would not protect him if you felt the remarks were comparable.

The biggest difference is that the Irish generally liked Clinton and were grateful for that administrations efforts to solve a huge Irish problem. So a stumble is easily forgiven. Blacks have no reason to consider Lott an ally or friend. His previous actions suggest he is/was not.

Edit: I'm not talking about the Irish in America likeing Clinton I'm referring to the people I talked to in Ireland.
