I'd like to agree with you... but we had better get used to the fact that there will never be a single language in this world.... If you must, take comfort in the fact that if there is such a thing as a universal language, it is already English.... It is the language of airline pilots, the official language of most international meetings, and in contrast to the USA, most children around the world study English starting in grammar school. I was in China a couple of years ago and was fascinated by the number of school age kids who shyly tried to strike up a conversation in English just to practice... Can you imagine our kids doing that....???? Is this American arrogance???? Jingoism?
