"It boils down to whether you want a unified America or a fractured America. It appears clear where your sympathies fall. "

What I hope is clear to you is that I don't support any policy that may encourage "ethnic cleansing" or the creation of a "super race" as tried by some lunatic in the 1940's... This nation is the success it is because we have learned from and utilized our diversity or melting pot components...it has strengthened not weakened us... Even in the current era, our hi-tech industry would not be the world's best without the fresh immigrants we have from Asia....ditto for our medical establishments...therefore it is quite fair to argue that our modern economy is being driven by recent immigrants....
The USA is an eclectic nation drawing it's traditions and culture from many groups....For the most part we all get along because living together with our diversity has dampened the xenophobia that is created when groups isolate themselves... As for the English should be our official language concern, I don't see what it is that worries some people.....English is the native language, if it ever changes(and I don't think it will) it will take a couple of centuries and your descendents will think it quite normal since it will be the will of the people.... As for the moment, I think it's great that some Americans are being exposed to a second language, it's too bad we all aren't multilingual like most of the rest of the world....
