I disagree regarding gold and the dollar. I don't see any way that the Fed can continue jamming the money supply without surging gold prices. They might be able to sustain the dollar, but suppressing gold is a losing battle and counterproductive to producing the inflation they now seek.

If they got cooperation from all the monetary authorities of the planet, they could sustain the dollar, but I don't think that's even desirable any more. I genuinely believe that they are cornered and resorting to Hail Mary's. The only way to prevent general deflation is to import inflationary pressure - devalue the dollar. Their recent actions tell me that they are now that desperate.
