You have made an argument but the administration appears to lack one. My own position is something of a slippery slope one, give me an inch and they'll take a mile, particularly if it's run out of Ashcroft's shop.

If this is necessary for security, then the administration should be forced to make strong arguments that's the case. I can see loss of some liberties in cases of national security but I can't see losing them simply because an administration of either party says we have to without offering very strong arguments for doing so.

I think the Internet community should either organize to stop this stuff or force the admin to make much better arguments, much more specific proposals, etc.
