The nominal 40:1 ratio of NDX to QQQ hold up fairly well over time, but it is not exact, and does vary some throughout the day.

I think the big excursions on this chart reflect the difference in market hours of QQQ vs NDX. By the end of the day, the ratio is pretty close to the average, which is currently about 40.2
