Iraq is Bush's war. I just wish he'd concentrate on Al Qaida first. I'm a lot more scared of them than Saddam or North Korea who have no means or motivation to attack us. But we all know the main reason the Iraq war talk started in the first place. It was mainly a marketing ploy to retain power prior to the November elections. Back in July things looked grim for Bushies. The war was used brilliantly as a massive political and media diversion. Americans are in the mind-set to support wars right now. I don't know how long that will continue though. And I wonder what programs get cut to pay the 200 billion for the war. Or do we seize their oil-fields for a reimbursement. Whichever way you loomk at it this is not a clearly motivated war. It's murky. That said, yes the world would be better off without Saddam around, though the administrations claims Saddam is threatening us do not hold water. Makes you wonder whether they'll be onto Iran and N. Korea next, partly to try and win in 2004 despite crappy economy. All in all, I think we can do better in 2004 and need a new, smarter more positive direction for the future.
