<<Looks like there are at least 50% of the people out there that are pleased with the Bush Administration.>>

68%. That about what he'll poll in 2004...

Don't worry, a new leader like Kerry will be proactive on these issues and more. As for Rush Limbaugh and others, we who disagree with them need to start really fighting back. I was listening to Rush a little today and they were planning these attacks on Democrats on the air. How to distort and divert attention from real issues. Character assassination stuff. It's like a live dirty tricks session complete with talking points, suggestions of insults to use, etc. Very well-organized. You certainly don't see Democrats doing that out in the open. It's negative campaign radio. Also, Rush does not have 30 million listeners, more like 15-18 milion. Again the 30 million figure is a distortion to make himself look more powerful.
They have several tricks they use constantly. For instance if Bush takes 2 million from Enron, they attack Hillary for taking $200 from Enron. "They do it too" stuff. Another is "look at that nasty democratic ad!" when they're running ten times as many. Or "be bought the election" when their soft money from corporations buys all kidns of elections for them. In other words they deflect, point at the other side instead of allowing any close look at themselves and the downsides of their ideas. for instance, Reagan tax cuts they trumpet as great growth but ignore the collosal debts and S+L debacle RR economics left behind.

The problem in terms of fair debate is that there are few if any competitors on air. So much for the liberal media, huh? They are almost nowhere in sight. And the righties on radio are constantly attacking PBS and CBS as if they were steering the national agenda.

That's why I watch MSNBC mostly. It gives both sides of the debate. Fox is loaded with righties agreeing with Sean Hannity, who coincidentally (though he denies it) uses the exact same talkinmg points as Rush Limbaugh and others on the same day. Not a coincidence. But they will never admit their umbilical cords right into RNC-Karl Rove think-tank central.

Both parties play politics of course, but I'd like to see real fair and balanced debates, and then a President who really does have vision and thinks for himself regardless of every movement in the polls. I know Clinton did it too but Bushies have taken it to a cynical art form.
