Hi Fred,
Years ago, can't remember exactly when, I had a Jr. Scholastic magazine for my students. On the cover there were some young kids, maybe around 11-12 years old or so. The article was about these kids who were given "keys to heaven". They wore them around their necks and were sent into mine fields ahead of troops and tanks. As I recall, they had a stick to put in front of them to see if the path was clear. These kids were told that if they got blown up, they had the keys to heaven and could get in. The result from this action with the kids sent into the mine field was a generation of maimed kids. Sad, truly sad. Do you recall this? I believe it was Iran where it happened.
