I did not ever state that Lott was a liar. I specifically said, from the beginning, that I didn't think he meant the harm implied. Nevertheless, the Dixiecrats broke with the Democratic Party over civil rights, and Thurmond was explicitly the candidate of massive resistance to integration. Read a little history. It is wrong to pretend it did not happen, and that everything would have been hunky dory had Thurmond won.........
