Skin,
I think common ground is abhorence for war, terror, etc. in all its forms.
I think common ground is hope that in the future all folks can live free and achieve all they are able to.

There are giant gulfs in how to get there. Some want to appease the regimes that spawn terror.
Some want to use excessive force.
I am hoping that this good cop bad cop Bush admin will achieve desired results in iraq without war and without selling out the iraqi people thru a cynical deal with saddam. However i too would make that deal to avoid war if i had to. I am glad i dont make the decisions. Its quite a burden and not one business folks like me would want to make. But i guess our knee jerk Bush haters on this thread think differently and would love to make these descisions based on all that info they get from Clinton speeches and Paul Krugman article--krugman being about the worst NYTimes columnist ever. mike
PS I wonder if somewhere sits an iraqi colonel realizing that his country is about to be permanently ruined by actions saddam may take in case of war. I wish him luck. For if saddam uses poison gas and bio agents, they will face the wrath of God from the US military. There wont be anyplace to hide. I sincerely hope that it doesnt come to that but i know from my study of history that sometimes it does. Pacifism in the face of great evil is a worse alternative i keep telling myself. What if some country in europe ignored BWACS cries about sovereign states and preempted Hitler. I would have a far larger extended family if nothing else. Good night and sorry for the ramble. mike

What I meant by "half-way in between" was that I understand the mentality, the way of thinking, the culture, the values, etc of both sides.

My own way of life and mentality, are obviously very Western. My sentiments (family, honor, respect) are somewhat Middle-Eastern. There is no conflict, though.
